Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000–$90,000 annually. The hiring range represents the anticipated starting salary for this position. Placement within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, qualifications, demonstrated skills, internal equity, and organizational needs.

HNBA Development Manager
Description
The Development Manager leads the organization's corporate partnerships and fundraising activities, working to expand philanthropic support and sponsorship revenue in alignment with HNBA's strategic priorities. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position manages sponsor and donor relationships, fundraising campaigns, and development operations that support the organization's conferences, leadership programs, scholarships, advocacy initiatives, and member engagement efforts.
This position plays a central role in helping diversify revenue, strengthen corporate partnerships, and advance the long-term sustainability of the organization. The Development Manager serves as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of sponsors and donors while partnering with the Executive Director on major gifts, strategic partnerships, and institutional fundraising. The position also partners with the Vice President of Fundraising & Development and the Development Committee to advance the organization's fundraising priorities, strengthen sponsor and donor engagement, and support the successful execution of fundraising initiatives. Working collaboratively across departments, this position helps advance organizational revenue goals while ensuring an exceptional experience for sponsors, donors, and partners.

Key Responsibilities
Corporate Partnerships & Fundraising
Manage a portfolio of corporate sponsors, law firms, foundations, exhibitors, and individual donors.
Develop and execute sponsorship solicitation, renewal, stewardship, and fulfillment plans for the Corporate Counsel Conference, Annual Convention, leadership programs, and other HNBA/VIA initiatives.
Partner with the Executive Director on major sponsorships and strategic fundraising opportunities by coordinating proposals, presentations, follow-up, benefit fulfillment, and stewardship activities.
Identify, cultivate, and steward prospective sponsors and funding opportunities that align with organizational priorities.
Maintain and actively manage a pipeline of sponsorship and donor prospects, tracking cultivation activities and next steps to support sustainable revenue growth.
Manage annual fundraising campaigns, including year-end giving, Giving Tuesday, and other donor engagement initiatives.
Track fundraising progress and sponsorship revenue against established goals.
Donor Stewardship & Communications
Develop sponsorship proposals, donor communications, stewardship materials, and impact reports.
Ensure sponsors and donors receive timely recognition and all contracted sponsorship benefits.
Coordinate fundraising communications in partnership with the Communications Manager.
Maintain regular communication with sponsors and donors to strengthen long-term relationships and encourage continued investment.
Conference & Program Partnerships
Lead sponsorship management and fulfillment for conferences, fundraising events, leadership development programs, and special initiatives.
Coordinate sponsor logistics and activation opportunities before, during, and after organizational events.
Collaborate with the events and program teams to identify funding opportunities and deliver a high-quality sponsor experience.
Development Operations
Maintain accurate donor and sponsorship records within Salesforce.
Coordinate with the finance team to ensure timely gift processing, pledge tracking, sponsorship invoicing, payment reconciliation, and accurate financial records.
Prepare fundraising reports, sponsor status updates, and revenue forecasts for the Executive Director and Board as needed.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, sponsorship agreements, and donor requirements.
Board & Volunteer Engagement
Partner with the Executive Director, Vice President of Fundraising & Development, and the Development Committee to advance the organization's fundraising priorities and initiatives.
Partner with volunteer leaders to cultivate sponsor and donor relationships, strengthen corporate and philanthropic partnerships, and execute fundraising initiatives aligned with the organization's strategic goals.
Coordinate Board-generated sponsorship and donor opportunities, ensuring timely follow-up, effective stewardship, and alignment with organizational priorities.
Prepare fundraising reports, dashboards, briefing materials, and sponsorship updates for the Board, Development Committee, and Executive Director.
Serve as the staff liaison to the Development Committee and other fundraising-related volunteer groups, as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit fundraising, sponsorship sales, business development, or relationship management.
Demonstrated success managing corporate partnerships, sponsorships, or donor relationships.
Experience supporting conferences, events, or fundraising campaigns.
Preferred
Experience working for a professional, trade, or member-based association.
Experience working with attorneys, law firms, corporate legal departments, or legal industry organizations.
Experience fundraising for or supporting national conferences, conventions, or large-scale professional events.
Experience with Salesforce or a comparable CRM platform.

Approximately 20–25% travel, including conferences, sponsor meetings, and organizational events.
