SALARY/BENEFITS: NADP salaries are currently benchmarked to the median of ASAE data for trade organizations of similar budget and staff sizes with national scope. In addition to salary, there is potential for up to a 10% annual bonus based on performance. NADP also provides a benefit stipend of approximately 100% of health/dental/vision premiums of NADP offered coverage and an employer matching contribution up to 5% of salary deferral into self-directed 401K with a 3-year cliff.
NADP provides new employees with 8 holidays and 2 personal days with pay each year; 10 days of paid vacation (increases to 15 days after 10 years of employment); and one day of sick leave each month (can accrue to 240-hour maximum). Leave levels increase starting in the third year with NADP. Limited tuition assistance for position-related course work is also provided.

DESCRIPTION: The National Association of Dental Plans (NADP) seeks a self-motivated, experienced professional with a background in communications to lead NADP’s activities and policies related to communications. The Director of Communications leads association communications including external communications with media, government entities, and other external parties.
As Director of Communications, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Content development – write copy for member & industry communications including newsletters, press releases, and speeches/presentations.
Communications Work Group – serve as lead staff liaison for this group; develop communication strategies to achieve specific, measurable goals; develop first draft of content for review and edit through completion.
Edit communications/publications developed by other staff to ensure consistency of the NADP voice –including research reports, conference materials; education and advocacy materials.
Develop and lead NADP’s public affairs strategy and messaging, including the development of specific advocacy communications (such as issue briefs, factsheets, and talking points).
Lead thought leadership on dental benefits and public policy topics
Lead NADP’s partnership development strategy, including nurturing relationships with proximate trade and professional organizations.
Lead NADP’s media and public relations.
Support public appearances of NADP senior staff, Board members, and industry representatives
Lead communications, fundraising, and external affairs for the NADP Foundation
Oversee NADP reputation management and Implement crisis communications when necessary
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in association communications required. An advanced degree is preferred but does not substitute for experience. The following capabilities are also required:
Association background and/or experience preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and Word; ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
Familiarity with social media and internet-based tools.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects with minimal supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
