The American Nurses Association - the leading nursing organization advocating for more than four million nurses across the nation - and its members seeks a strategic, innovative, bold, and dynamic executive who is a nurse to serve as the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is a unique opportunity to lead one of the most respected healthcare associations in the country.
The American Nurses Association is the parent organization of a family of entities known as ANA Enterprise, which is comprised of the American Nurses Association (ANA), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and the American Nurses Foundation (the Foundation), In addition, ANA is the parent to the American Academy of Nursing as well as the ANA Service Corporation, a for-profit entity currently inactive. With a budget of $100 million, the ANA Enterprise leverages the combined strength of each entity to drive excellence in professional nursing and advocate on behalf of the profession so that the voice and vision of nurses are recognized by policy leaders, industry influencers, regulators, accrediting bodies, and employers.
The CEO will actively advocate and engage with multiple constituencies including ANA's constituent and state nurses associations and members. The CEO will be charged with taking bold, creative steps to increase and diversify ANA's membership base by building brand awareness of ANA to reach a new generation of nurses; expanding ANA's reach; and tapping into a more diverse nursing demographic. The CEO will ensure ANA is engaged in national and global conversations related to the nursing profession and will build collaborative relationships with other nursing and healthcare associations. The CEO will lead ANA's diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and be viewed as a vocal leader across the nursing profession and healthcare industry in combatting racism and advancing DEI.
Reporting directly to the ANA Board of Directors, and in collaboration with each entity's board of directors, the CEO will develop and execute the strategic plan, direction, and vision for the ANA Enterprise. It is vital that the CEO evaluate and strengthen the ANA Enterprise's strategy, operations, and structure. As the ANA Enterprise structure continues to evolve, the CEO must ensure the appropriate policies and systems are in place for future success and alignment.

The CEO will be a highly credible and passionate spokesperson who can influence, advocate, lead change, implement a strategic plan, and engage key stakeholders and members.
