What does this role do at AHIMA?
The Certification Operations Specialist will oversee all operations concerning AHIMA certification exams, including application and request processing, eligibility, testing accommodation (ADA) determinations, and recertification process/audit and appeals process.
The Certification Operations Specialist will be responsible for maintaining policy and procedure documentation, identifying needs, and recommending process changes, troubleshooting applicant issues, managing customer service escalations, and updating operations related materials (i.e., candidate guide, recertification guide, and certification website content).
This position by design is a highly visible public facing one that works collaboratively with vendors/subject matter experts (SMEs) and other internal AHIMA departments (e.g., IT, marketing, customer relations, etc.) to implement and maintain a high-quality customer experience. The individual who holds this position exemplifies the AHIMA mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with AHIMA policies and procedures.
Half of the time, this role will be responsible for public communication and process improvement. Some of the responsibilities include communicating with internal and external stakeholders regarding certification/recertification, micro-credentials, and other operational concerns.
The remainder of the time will be split between policy and procedures and management (about 20% each) and collaborating with VP of Certification, other Certification staff, and CCHIIM (10%).
Policy and procedures responsibilities include maintaining, identifying improvements, and recommending changes to policies and procedures documentation to support Certification for Health Informatics and Information Management (CCHIIM) in accordance with National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accreditation standards.
Management responsibilities include to leading, managing, and tracking all SME recruitment efforts (i.e., outreach, vetting, and approvals) for certification exams, micro-credentials, and other projects, where applicable.
Who is our ideal candidate?
You’re someone with strong critical thinking, customer service, verbal and written communications, attention to detail, active listening, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
You’re able to identify potential problems and proactively generate ideas for acceptable solutions, and set priorities to complete assignments in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner.
The ideal candidate has experience in certification or credential operations, as well as healthcare industry experience.
In addition, you have:
Bachelor’s degree required.?
5+ years’ experience in customer relations (including escalations) and business operations required.
Certifications experience preferred.
