INFORMS is looking for a senior leader who will help grow its impact and serve a wider community of data and decision science professionals. Join our 50-person staff team located in Catonsville, MD. We offer a hybrid working environment with two days in the office but will accept applications from individuals who require a fully remote work setting. Preference may be given to a local candidate.
The Director of Education & Industry Programs leads INFORMS’ strategic oversight and all other aspects of the programs and products related to education and practice/industry activities. This includes recommending and developing new products, programs, and services that create compelling value for INFORMS members and customers, particularly early-career practitioners and educators. Additionally, the Director focuses on developing strong partnerships with key volunteers (VP of Education and VP of Practice) and their respective committees by serving as a trusted advisor and by employing project/portfolio management techniques to prioritize and lead projects that provide continuity in strategic thinking and planning.
The Director of Education & Practice Programs reports directly to the Executive Director of INFORMS, has direct reports, budget responsibilities of approximately $600k, and serves as a member of the staff leadership team. The Director participates with INFORMS Board of Directors and attends all Board meetings.
The Director is expected to maintain and grow the functional areas they lead.
Education: Current programs include organizing annual workshops aimed at new faculty and doctoral students, organizing meetings for program directors of master’s programs in INFORMS-related disciplines, developing outreach to academics to foster partnerships with practitioners, and other related programs.
Practice: Current programs include the Certified Analytics Professional program (https://www.certifiedanalytics.org/), annual workshops for early career practitioners, work related to the Industry Outreach & Engagement Committee and the Committee on Industry-Academia Collaborations, and other related programs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Background in operations research, analytics, management sciences, applied math, AI, or a related field is a plus.
Must be a proven leader with at least 7-10 years’ experience.
Program/product development and implementation experience is required.
Project management expertise is required; PMP, preferred.
Portfolio management expertise is preferred (PfMP is beneficial).
