Responsible for the overall AFP membership strategy to generate awareness, participation and to derive revenue from AFP’s membership programs and will be able to execute plans to foster and increase member engagement. The Senior Director of Membership will be expected to deeply understand the purpose and value of being an AFP member, and the positive outcomes of being a member. This includes the understanding the membership experience. Works collaboratively across the organization to develop marketplace and member-focused strategies for achieving membership and program growth. Key responsibilities include serving as a champion to show value and retain current AFP members while attracting new members. In addition to implementing membership initiatives, the Senior Director will manage the AFP internal membership support staff, and external vendor relationships with BrightKey and others.

Responsible for the achievement of the membership departments, goals, budget and financial objectives.
Ensure integration of diversity, equity, and inclusion in AFP membership efforts.
Conduct member research activities.
Manage analysis, interpretation and reporting of campaign, program metrics and performance
Ensure evaluation systems are in place related to goals, objectives, and report
Supervise, mentor, evaluate, and coach the membership support
Develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures necessary for the smooth operation of the membership department with internal
Responsible for content, and distribution of all association membership materials both in print and electronic.
Responsible for maintaining inventory of membership collateral and supplies for outside vendors.
Develop best practice membership renewal and lifecycle communications procedures.
Ensure articulation of the AFP desired image and position, ensure consistent communication of brand and position throughout the association and with constituencies, both internal and external.
Develop, coordinate and oversee programs, technical assistance for membership using Salesforce and resource materials to assist chapters in the marketing and positioning of their
Implement membership strategies, plans and tactics to promote the value of AFP membership for members.
Develop and implement programs to ensure the involvement of members and chapters.
Provide member feedback, representing the voice of the member into services/value.
Develop all market-specific outreach and collateral material in collaboration with marketing team, to effectively communicate the value of AFP membership.
Identify ways to increase member value at events.
Develop knowledge of member needs and integrate them through innovative strategies to meet the established retention goals.
Serve on various committees as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
5+ years of experience working for a membership based non-profit.
Outstanding communication (oral and written) influencing and relationship building skills.
Exceptional time management skills and commitment to meeting deadlines.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
Exceptional written, interpersonal and communication skills with commitment to a high level of customer service.
Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with short deadlines, demonstrating a flexible approach.
Full understanding of the importance of outstanding customer service.
Organization, management of concurrent projects in heavy workloads, ability to meet necessary
Appreciation and capable of working in a diverse environment with all levels of employees.
Salesforce experience is a plus.
