The American Urological Association (AUA), the premier urologic association providing support to the urologic community, is currently searching for an experienced and well-connected Corporate Communications & Media Relations Manager who will be a part of the team in our Linthicum, Maryland office. This position will have the possibility to telecommute up to 3 days a week.
In General
This position is responsible for developing, managing and executing short- and long-term corporate communications and media strategies to enhance visibility with key stakeholders, as well as advance the organization’s reputation, mission and goals. This includes managing media relations, strategic communications and social media.
Typically
The individual in this position will:
Develop and execute media strategies and communication plans.
Act as primary liaison between AUA, Urology Care Foundation and the media.
Receive and fulfill press inquiries; arrange interviews; follow up with press; develop press releases
Oversee all social media activity including developing and implementing strategy
Lead the planning of engaging communications content for social media platforms
Oversee the press program for the AUA Annual Meeting

To be Successful
Candidates must provide leadership and have effective communications skills. It is essential the individual in this role be collaborative, as well as highly flexible and results oriented. In addition:
Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field.
Seasoned communications professional with at least 5-7 years related experience.
Minimum 3 years staff management or oversight experience.
Must be able to build effective working relationships with a diverse group of constituents, including consumer audiences and domestic and international physicians.
Detail oriented.
Self-starter, able to work independently as well as with others.
Excellent writing and English grammar skills are required.
Strong social media expertise and experience using social media as an effective communications tool.
Internet and Microsoft Office skills are required.
