Competitive salary commensurate with experience, base range from $103,000- $112,000

210 work-day calendar (off for federal holidays and several non-duty days comparable to a school district calendar; allows for 4-day work weeks in the summer months)

The specific duties and responsibilities of the executive director include but are not limited to the following:
Key proponent for the association, its members and for the role of school communications in public schools and school districts
Provide ongoing support and resources to association members
Manage and support the organization’s efforts to grow membership
Manage and support the organization’s efforts to grow sponsorships
Develop resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the association
Sustain the fiscal integrity of the association through effective planning and oversight of the annual budget and investment strategies
Plan, manage and oversee all aspects and details of the annual TSPRA conference including:
Identifying and scheduling high-quality speakers and presenters
Securing partnerships with sponsors
Negotiating with hotels and other vendors
Coordinating with the TSPRA executive committee leadership on conference planning
Coordinate all correspondence to the membership with the executive committee and committee chairs
Plan and prepare agendas for executive committee meetings and other standing and ad hoc committees
Keep the executive committee informed on key issues and operations of the organization
Hire, supervise, direct and evaluate the TSPRA staff member(s)
Coordinate awards programs
Direct the day-to-day operations of the organization
Implement the organization’s bylaws by providing advice and counsel to the executive committee
Maintain and build new strategic relationships with public and private alliances
Work collaboratively with NSPRA and state organizations on special projects and other partnerships that are mutually beneficial
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Minimum of 10 years of work experience in a related field
Desired Qualifications
Experience in working at or managing a professional association, or involvement on association or non-profit boards
Strong working knowledge of the field of communications and/or public relations, with knowledge of public schools an added benefit
Experience managing staff in a professional capacity
Experience managing a budget in a professional capacity
Preferred Certified Administrative Executive (CAE) credentials or agree to pursue the CAE credentials within two-four years in the position
The Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) is an incorporated, non-profit 501(c)(3) education association serving more than 1,000 active members. An award-winning chapter of the National School Public Relations Association, TSPRA is dedicated to promoting public schools in providing professional development, industry resources, and networking and collaboration opportunities for its members and others in the education community. Through support of its members, TSPRA fulfills its mission seeking to improve effective communications between Texans and their public schools.
The TSPRA executive director will implement the strategic vision of the organization as defined by the TSPRA Executive Committee, including annual targeted strategic initiatives as well as standing and ad hoc committee coordination and membership management and engagement. In addition, the executive director will oversee and implement the day-to-day operations of the organization and is the lead staff member for the association at its Austin-area headquarters. An important aspect of the role is to serve as TSPRA’s representative in all matters related to the association at both a state and national level.
