The Game Manufacturers Association (GAMA) is the professional trade association of the tabletop game industry. Our members create, promote, and sell board, card, role-playing and miniature games. The association has more than 1,000 member companies in 25 countries.
GAMA seeks a creative, organized, self-motivated individual who has demonstrated excellence in communications, design, and program marketing. The Communications & Marketing Manager will work to enhance current communications and develop new marketing and communications systems with the goal to expand the impact and visibility of the organization. This includes integrating a broad range of marketing, advertising, communications, and publications through multiple media channels with an emphasis on producing and managing a digital media strategy and integrating an online member community.
Duties & Responsibilities
Implement marketing and communication initiatives that align with the GAMA’s strategic plan which is to enhance the visibility of the association while driving membership value through engagement.
Integrate internal and external marketing and communication efforts, maintaining a focus on campaigns and communications that directly grow GAMA audience from membership, events, publications, and resources.
Responsible for ensuring consistency of approach and branding throughout all content.
Works with member services team to develop creative and innovative approaches to member engagement campaigns.
Manage communication channels, including the content for the website, social media, program flyers, event signage, publications, and podcast to improve the readership and viewership of all channels.
Works with the Tech & Creative Manager and Social Media Coordinator to develop and execute various elements as it relates to the association's website, social media channels, email marketing, etc. This will include content development, advertisements/sponsorship managing, editing, proofreading, layouts, printing, and mailing or electronic distribution.
Provide routine administration of the association’s website.
Format and execute email marketing to membership, including, but not limited to weekly e-newsletters, event promotions, and marketing for educational programs to ensure brand integrity. This may include event promotions and marketing for educational and consumer programs.
Directs the Social Media Coordinator to maintain regular social media presence including messaging, comment correspondence, sharing, and updating information to increase utilization and usefulness to members and the public.
Responsible for the editorial schedule and content for all GAMA publications including Around the Table quarterly magazine and the annual Winter Wishlist Retail Buying Guide.
Facilitate and coordinate media requests on behalf of the association.
Attend and assist with association events, which range in attendance from 20 to 20,000 people
Works with staff collaboratively to serve the marketing needs of the organization.
Staff liaison for committees as assigned by the executive director.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Bachelor’s Degree (or at least 4 years of related work experience)
Superb organizational abilities and time management skills to consistently executed and meet deadlines.
Strong written, analytical, and oral communication skills, including the ability to distill complex issues into compelling communications.
Experienced with B2B and B2C communications and marketing
Well-versed in the latest trends in multi-platform, cross-channel communication.
Experience managing a website and social media content, newsletters, and other digital communications strategies.
Proactively interprets relevant insights and/or data points and recommends pathways to improve marketing and communication efforts.
Self-starter with self-confidence.
Strong eye for detail in design and excellent proofing of content.
Effectively use Microsoft Office suite, specifically Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Word.
Experience in Adobe Design Suite, Canva and/or other graphic design tools.
Ability to interact collaboratively with members and staff at all levels and represent the organization with a high degree of integrity, diplomacy, and professionalism.
Experience at a trade or professional association is preferred but not required.
Experience in using project management software such as Trello is preferred but not required.
Game or toy industry experience is preferred but not required
Flexibility to travel 2-6 times a year to tabletop industry events and conventions
Salary: $60-65,000 USD with annual performance bonus program
