BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Governance, the Manager, Volunteer & Board Relations is responsible for supporting the daily operations and executing the strategic vision of NACAC’s board, volunteer, and member-leader engagement and relationship development programs. Using best practices in volunteer management as a guide, this position will build important internal infrastructure to document activities, develop work plans for future-focused work, build upon legacy committees and programs, and spearhead new, innovative programming to the build the leadership capacity of NACAC’s member leaders. The Manager, Volunteer & Board Relations will plan, coordinate, and assess NACAC’s volunteer committees, and steward relationships through impactful communications, work plans, and reporting.
POSITION OVERVIEW & DESCRIPTION:
Volunteer Management
Works closely with NACAC’s governance team to create an annual communications and operational work plan for volunteer committees and advisory groups
Serves as the primary staff liaison for and operational coordinator of assigned volunteer committees and advisory groups, coordinating rosters, workflow, agenda setting, timelines, communications, deliverables, and recognition
Provides back-up support for governance related volunteer activities, including to the Board of Directors and board-appointed special committees (Admission Practices Committee, Governance and Nominating Committee, and Affiliate Presidents Council)
Supports the governance team in the administration management of affiliate relationships, compliance, and meetings
Manages and monitors volunteer data in Salesforce
Implements NACAC’s annual volunteer recognition and award programs
Program Innovation & Assessment
Analyzes and creates assessment structure for existing programs and leadership development for volunteer leaders and affiliates
Works closely with NACAC’s Education & Training and Communications departments to create, execute, and promote new leadership development programs, and create reports to promote impact
Serves as key administrative support for affiliate grant program, managing the annual calendar of applications, deliverables, and communications
Collaborates with NACAC Events & Meetings department to manage volunteer program logistics at the annual conference, etc.
Board of Directors Operational Support
Collaborates to provide administrative support to the operations of the NACAC Board of Directors, including butnot limited to scheduling meetings, itineraries, meeting materials, contact information, presentations, travel reimbursements,
Provides logistical and scheduling support to the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Planning Committee, Performance Committee, and other working committees
Develops event budgets, timelines, communications plans, and tracks RSVPs for board meetings and events
Coordinates board and leadership team travel to off-site meeting locations, securing reservations, maintaining rooming lists, overseeing and confirming set-ups, and demonstrating outstanding hospitality
Supports strategic projects as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree
3-4 years of volunteer engagement or volunteer management experience
Knowledge of higher education a plus
Commitment to creating outstanding member experiences
Superb verbal and written communication skills
Excitement to build something new and maintain with excellence

NACAC has a hybrid work model where employees have the option of working remotely on Monday and Friday, but must report in to the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
