The CME Assistant provides administrative support and general coordination of activities for the CME (Continuing Medical Education) Specialist. They are responsible for the day-to-day administrative tasks related to the Society’s education programming consisting of several online educational enduring programs related to CME activities, education (Non-CME) products, the annual meeting, and committee support. Provides administrative support for the ASBrS ACCME/MOC compliance requirements.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Prepare, proofread, distribute, collect, update, organize, and maintain records and documentation of the:

Continuing medical education (CME) programs related to the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) compliance rules
-
Maintenance of certification (MOC) activities related to American Board of Surgery (ABS) compliance rules
-
Education-based committees
-
Non-CME education programs

Oversee department task timelines for all education (CME and Non-CME) programs.

Coordinate departmental and organizational projects to ensure deadlines are met.

Coordinate and provide live support for webinars (Zoom); record attendance when applicable.

Assist in coordinating committee meetings and related communications. Maintain action items of committee meetings and prepare minutes.

Serve as the primary contact for education (CME and Non-CME) programs. Respond to internal and external emails/telephone calls or inquiries about the Society’s education programs.

Update and maintain department databases and spreadsheets.

Maintain the department process for check requests and checks.

Provide support for special projects and assignments.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Fast paced environment that requires in-office and remote work. In office, moderate noise levels. Use of phones and computers for extended periods of time. Utilize office equipment and communication technologies for conference calls and teleconference meetings/webinars. Requires general mobility to move through the facility. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Frequent interaction with internal staff and physician members/board via phone, in person, email and other mediums. Normal sitting and standing activities for an office environment. Some seasonal over-time required. Some travel required, primarily for Annual Meeting.
