Headquartered in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, ACOEM has over 3,300 members, comprised of physicians specializing in occupational medicine, medical residents, medical students, and associated healthcare and public health professionals.
Summary of Position
The Senior Manager, Member Engagement will lead the College’s member recruitment and retention initiatives and champion member programs and benefits. This position provides staff support to volunteer-led Councils, Committees, workgroups, and task forces. The ideal candidate will be a creative, detail oriented, data-driven leader who excels in a team environment.
The Senior Manager, Member Engagement will:
Oversee and support the administration of membership related processes including applications, member class transitions, and others.
Develop and implement short term and long-range membership recruitment and retention plans and related budgets.
Analyze and report membership data to internal and external audiences. Prepare annual membership report.
Identify opportunities and makes plans to enhance the ACOEM membership value proposition using data, industry best practices, and member feedback.
Serve as the primary staff liaison for ACOEM’s Council on Member Engagement, which includes working with volunteer leaders, organizing meetings, creation and distribution of meeting minutes, and preparing quarterly reports for the Board of Directors. Also supports relevant subcommittees and workgroups.
Oversee the online member Community site, working with members and staff to generate and promote content. Facilitate the Mentoring Program and Volunteer Opportunities pages within the Community site.
Manage Component (chapter organization) relationships and related database items. Develop and execute strategies for Component engagement. Coordinate ACOEM leadership attendance at Component meetings and events with Governance Support Coordinator.
Work with the Engagement Team to develop materials for onboarding new members, outreach to lapsed members, and other membership-focused projects and initiatives.
Provide input into membership related marketing programs.
Supervise Membership Coordinator.
Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Exemplary interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with members, volunteers, and staff. Ability and willingness to work in a team setting.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills, and excellent attention to detail.
Strong time-management and problem-solving skills; ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Outstanding aptitude for data analysis and reporting.
Experience with customer relationship management systems (CRMs). Salesforce experience desired.
Experience with Higher Logic platform desired.
Proficient in Microsoft Office365 applications and Zoom.
Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
7+ years’ experience in a non-profit membership organization.
Proven track record of developing and leading successful member recruitment and retention campaigns.
Medical association experience desired, but not required.
CAE certification desired.
Physical Requirements
Requires ability to complete computer and phone tasks in a typical office environment.
Working Conditions
Upon completion of the initial assessment period, telecommuting up to two days a week is allowed with the understanding that in-person staff, department, and specific meetings occur weekly.
Travel
Travel required, approximately 14-20 days per year, including an extended period during the American Occupational Health Conference.
