The Director: Government Relations will serve as staff liaison for the society’s government relations committee and participate in various external forums, as well as research and communicate all newly enacted laws and regulations to internal stakeholders.

What you'll do:

• Lead organization government relations initiatives, with a strong focus on developing new pathways to strengthen and develop connections between members, policy makers, and federal agencies.
• Collaborate with a variety of U.S. government agencies to stay apprised of state and federal legislative and rulemaking initiatives. Represent organization interests in various state and federal forums. Establish ongoing working relationships with the FDA and help influence regulations related to Artificial Intelligence in medical imaging.
• Lead RSNA’s government relations committee and actively participate in formulating organization strategy to promote radiologist voices as expert stakeholders in non-reimbursement related health policy issues.
• Research and develop public policy positions related to research, education, and technology.
• Preparation and active representation of RSNA’s interests to external agencies including the NIH and FDA. Responsible for coordinating the activities of the government relations committee and coordinating internal response to any committee requests.
• Develop a wide range of materials in support of RSNA’s agenda, such as talking points, factsheets, legislative summaries, reports, etc.
• Support the preparation and submission of grant and government contract proposals.
• Partner with various appropriate societies to emphasize the importance of medical imaging societies.
• Plan budget for government relations activities.
• Supervise and mentors team members.
• Collaborate with RSNA leadership to develop a strategic government relations strategy and function.

What you'll need:

• Minimum of 3 year’s work experience in a position requiring progressively independent judgment and initiative. Previous experience in regulatory environment strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal legislative and executive process; public affairs principles and practices.
• Strong project management and planning principles and practices are required.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to prioritize activities.
• Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and writing skills are required.
