JOB SUMMARY: The Administrative Director will work closely with the current Administrative Director through a training period (initial appointment will be as Co-Director with a transition period to be determined). The position has responsibilities for both in-office administration and annual meeting organization. Once in position, the “new” Administrative Director (director) will be responsible for all administrative duties required to run the RSA, whether directly or through overseeing RSA Staff (administrative assistant, operations analyst plus admin duties). The director will work closely with the RSA Executive Committee (EC) on all RSA business, initiatives, new projects, and monthly meetings of the EC and annual Board Meeting. The director will oversee all financial aspects of the RSA, including creating reports for the Treasurer to communicate, data input and balance accounts, and investments review, and will work closely with the RSA accounting firm. The director will work closely with the chairs of the RSA committees, assisting with their activities (including meeting events and awards). The director will also communicate with the ACER editor and managing staff as needed.

The annual meeting responsibilities include all meeting planning activities and onsite meeting organization. This includes venue selection and negotiations, seeking approval for choice of hotel sites from the RSA Executive, working closely with the Program Committee in preparation of the scientific aspects of the meeting, processing meeting submissions, arranging or overseeing catering orders, setting up technology contracts (AV, internet), and organizing meeting volunteers, to name a few.

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS: The qualified candidate should have two to four years of administrative experience, preferably with experience at a non-profit 501 (3) (c), and basic understanding of accounting practices. A Bachelor’s Degree is required with preference given to a Business Administration (BBA), or equivalent. Hospitality experience is a plus. The candidate should have basic understanding of accounting practices, and working knowledge of various software (Microsoft, Adobe, Quickbooks).

The ideal candidate is looking for a long-term position and will have strong verbal abilities and communication skills; demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills; exhibits maturity and responsibility; attention to detail and proof-reading skills. In addition, the candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately, take initiative and maintain organized working conditions, and supervise the work of RSA Staff fairly and effectively.
