Executive Director – Illinois College of Emergency Physicians
The Illinois College of Emergency Physicians (ICEP) is recruiting for its Executive Director who will be a seasoned executive with an enthusiastic, innovative, and entrepreneurial spirit.
ICEP is a 501(c)(6) medical specialty society representing 1400 physicians who practice emergency medicine in Illinois. ICEP has an annual budget of approximately $1.1 million and a staff of eight. Since 1994 ICEP has provided management services to International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides trauma care education throughout the world. Its annual budget is $900k.
The Executive Director will report to the Boards of Directors of both organizations. The position is located at ICEP’s office in Downers Grove, Illinois, and requires occasional travel.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Advocacy
The Executive Director will advance ICEP’s legislative and regulatory agenda by working closely with the organization’s contracted lobbyist and its Patient and Physician Advocacy Committee. Excellent writing and communication skills are required for drafting position statements, testimony and opinion pieces supporting ICEP’s positions.
The Executive Director will work with related ICEP and ITLS committees, including Practice Management, Emergency Medical Services, Editorial Board, Global Development and Communications to help development and advance the organizations’ policies and position statements.
Leadership and Management
The Executive Director will work closely with both Boards to advance the organizations’ missions, strategic plans, develop annual budgets, assure accurate financial reporting, and oversee work of committees and workgroups.
The Executive Director will manage staff and outside consultants, oversee all office functions, including tax compliance, state political action committee reporting and financial statements.
Education and Meetings
The Executive Director will oversee all educational programs of both organizations, including annual business meetings and elections, and conferences.
Member Engagement
The Executive Director will oversee organizational communications and publications, including maintenance and updating of the ICEP and ITLS websites and social media sites.
The Executive Director will work closely with the ICEP Membership Committee to engage physician groups, academic centers, residency programs, and student programs to ensure membership retention and growth.
The Executive Director will work with the ITLS Board and designated committees to foster international growth of the organization and assure publication of ITLS educational products in native languages.
- Master’s Degree in Business or related field preferred
- Previous experience (5+ years) as senior level executive position
- Strong advocacy experience required
- Exemplary speaking, networking, and communication skills required
- Certified Association Executive (CAE) preferred
