Plumbing Manufacturers International is seeking to fill a 100% remote full-time position of Technical Director with an enthusiastic and team minded professional with interest and experience in plumbing systems, building codes and standards, green building programs, and water conservation. This is advanced professional work providing technical expertise to membership and representing association positions with various codes and standards bodies.
Work includes providing subject matter expert review of proposed state and federal regulations and legislation, working with staff team to ensure optimal efficiency; and recommending and optimizing proactive strategies to achieve maximum effectiveness in our technical program.
Reporting to the CEO/Executive Director, the successful candidate for the position understands basic engineering principles, the role and development of building/plumbing codes and standards, consensus-building and analytical skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills, good political skills, and the ability to effectively organize the involvement and numerous activities of several different committees are essential. Knowledge and experience with housing construction and remodeling techniques and technologies are also highly desirable.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management/Technology 10+ years of experience in a technical field relating to codes and/or standards, a basic knowledge of plumbing or building products and technologies.

PMI is a distributed team and relocation is not required. Up to 40% travel will be required to attend domestic and international code and standard hearings and meetings. Attendance at and assistance in developing content for PMI's education events and annual meeting will also be required.
