Position Description: Manager, Marketing and Communications
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
A 501(c)(3) non-profit association that focuses on energy efficiency, is seeking a Manager of Marketing and Communications. This well-established member-based organizations serve gas and electric utilities throughout North America with conferences, training courses, and education. Position can be remote and relocation is not required.
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for managing and coordinating all activities related to marketing and communications for the company and plays a critical role in ensuring the organization achieves its plans for growth in alignment with its mission and vision. The Marketing and Communications Manager reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for helping to implement and track performance metrics related to our strategic marketing and communications plan while also ensuring consistency for the brand. The Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for digital content creation, management of our editorial calendar and supporting all aspects of our social media presence. Ideally, the candidate will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team and thrive in a deadline-driven environment. The successful candidate must be able to balance the needs of multiple concurrent projects and initiatives in an organized and responsive manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES
General Marketing and Communications
Collaborates with internal team to develop strategic and timely marketing promotional collateral for 2 - 3 conferences annually and online as well as for training and other events.
Manages the production of our weekly and quarterly publications, including planning articles, scheduling writers, coordinating with member committees conducting interviews and writing brief articles as needed
Works jointly with content staff to develop the annual content and editorial calendar.
Designs and produces conference programs
Writes and distributes our press releases
Manages online advertisers for Weekly Energy Feed, Webinars and Quarterly Digital Magazine
Writes and produces marketing materials to promote our training offerings.
Support media and other relevant external partner relationships as needed. Assists with development of marketing communications budget.
Other duties may be assigned.
Social Media Management
Manages front end of website and monitors web for news to share as content for publications.
Manages social media presence (LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook)
Leads content creation for social media outlets including tweets, posts and videos and well as member news stories
Manages member blog content and external blog sites
Manages the delivery of Podcast series including speaker logistics, script management and post-production
Marketing Data and Analytics
Monitor, report and present on online engagement analytics (web, email, social media, earned media)
Leverage key engagement metrics across platforms to optimize content, messaging and distributions
Develops and manages member surveys and utilizes data to provide meaningful feedback to staff

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field
3 – 5 years of relevant professional experience in Marketing and/or Communications
Experience in non-profit a plus, but not essential.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proven results in implementing marketing and communications strategic plans
Proven results in managing social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.) and analytics technologies (HootSuite, Sprout Social, TweetReach, Meltwater, etc.) to engage a diverse audience
Ability to apply concepts of media buying for both web and print
Creative and self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing deadlines.
Effective project management skills
Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Experience with basic HTML, Adobe Creative Suite or InDesign preferred
Proficiency with MS Office products, especially Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook required.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Passion for supporting the growth of the energy efficiency and sustainable energy sectors
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as a team member, and to take initiative when appropriate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

COMPENSATION
Salary $55,000+
Annual bonus of up to 10% based on performance
