AMWA’s Manager of Education is responsible for the creation and delivery of high-quality educational programs and resources using best practices in adult learning principles and curriculum development strategy. AMWA’s mission is to promote excellence in medical communication and to provide education resources in support of that goal, and as such, the Senior Manager plays a critical role in fulfilling this mission.
The Senior Manager oversees the development, implementation/delivery, evaluation, and improvement of AMWA educational programs including conference programs, webinars, onsite corporate training, and online learning activities. The Manager is responsible for aligning educational program activities and content development with the AMWA Content Strategy, ensuring that technology and systems are used in the most efficient and effective way to meet annual goals. In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Manager supervises and work collaboratively with subject matter experts, volunteer leaders, committees, and other staff members.
Major areas of responsibility
Oversee content development, implementation/delivery, evaluation, and reporting for all education activities, including conferences, in-person events, and online learning.
Manage staff, vendors, committees, volunteers, and subject matter experts (SMEs).
Ensure that projects management systems are in place to accomplished goals.
Partner with marketing team to promote education activities and support related content marketing

Qualifications

Five to ten years’ experience in related work, preferably with a membership association, in educational course development, conference management, and online learning programs. Candidates must be familiar and proficient working with technology and databases, such as association management systems (AMS), learning management systems (LMS), and content management systems (CMS). AMWA uses the YM suite of products, and experience with this system is a plus, but not a requirement.
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience preferably within a nonprofit organization, association, or healthcare, or medical communications setting with management experience.
Experience supervising staff, managing vendors, and working with volunteers.
Experience in curriculum development and application of adult learning principles working with staff, subject matter experts, and vendors on educational program and resource development.
Experience working in association management, learning management, content management, and event registration systems.
Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects at one time and ensure deadlines are met.
Strong technology skills and working knowledge of Office 365 Suite, Microsoft Office applications, proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Survey Monkey, Google Docs.
Excellent written and oral communications skills; comfort with document control and copyediting including the ability to write session descriptions, learning objectives, and speaker correspondence.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills to initiate and develop productive working partnerships with key stakeholders organization-wide.
Self-motivated with ability to work independently and in a team environment as well as with individuals from a geographically dispersed membership.
Ability to prioritize and manage a workflow that involves interruptions and multiple projects underway at the same time.
Knowledge of topics within the medical/healthcare/pharma/biotech industry is a plus.
