The Education Manager position directly oversees all programming aspects of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) Annual Convention, Summer Psychology Forum (SPF) and Southeastern Society of Social Psychologists (SSSP). Responsibilities include overseeing and completing the abstract submission process, recruitment and selection of speakers, managing convention-related tasks of multiple committee members, serving as direct point of contact with selected speakers and workshop organizers, and creating programmatic content for all printed materials, mobile app, and convention website. The Education Manager regularly collaborates with the Meetings Manager and is responsible for ensuring the overall accuracy and quality of program information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Abstract Submission, Review & Selection: 40%
Create and maintain unique abstract submission forms for individual programming categories within membership database system (NOAH)
Solicit, select, and manage volunteer review process of abstract submissions
Manage speaker acceptance and rejection communications and serve as on-going, direct point of contact for selected speakers
Serve as a staff liaison with Professional Development and Convention Committees, as well as all Program Panels.
Track and manage all individual and group assigned committee responsibilities related to programming aspects of the annual convention
Program Promotion: 20%
Create and develop programmatic content for the printed onsite at-a-glance guide and electronic abstract book
Create, manage, and update programmatic content on convention website and mobile app
Create all programmatic content for convention email blast communications
Special Events: 5%
Coordinate registration of deep dive workshop sessions to include managing communication between workshop organizers and selected applicants
Manage logistics for Legacy Luncheon event, to include coordinating invitations and serving as a direct point of content for all invited and confirmed guests
Participate in site visits at selected convention venue and plan elements of onsite program logistics
Professional Development Education: 20%
Work with the Professional Development committee to organize webinars throughout the year
Develop additional professional development resources in conjunction with the committee and the Resource Manager
Monitor the online customer chat system and respond to inquiries from website visitors

Associate degree or at least 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Communications, Marketing, or Business Management.
Experience
Minimum of three years of prior related experience working in an association.
Individual scientific membership association experience working within the education department.
