Provide dynamic organizational management to ensure the association’s smooth and efficient operation, growth, and achievement of goals of SCPhA and its entities
Assure that all components and initiatives of SCPhA are cohesive and function to support and strengthen its mission
Supervise SCPhA staff to include leadership and mentoring; ensure the highest quality of service and the attainment of established programmatic goals and priorities through team building, staff development, performance appraisals, and effective collaborative management
Establish operational objectives that support the association's Mission and Global Ends. Ensures that the annual goals and objectives are fulfilled and updated as necessary throughout the membership year
Lead staff and Board in the implementation and ongoing evaluation of the annual work plans, programs and services, and generate continued enthusiasm and engagement
Engage and encourage leadership to build and maintain a strong, active Board of Directors that assists SCPhA in fulfilling the mission.
Serve as a spokesperson and representative for SCPhA with federal and state legislators and government agencies, related national, regional and state organizations, and in other arenas as needed
Use effective diplomacy in dealing with related organizations, legislators, or others who can help fund and support the goals of SCPhA
Strengthen organizational infrastructure, including IT systems, controls, computers, software and related business protocols necessary to maintain and improve services
Oversee and assume responsibility for the continued fiscal growth and financial wellbeing of the organization to include: o Lead the budget planning process for recommendation to the Board and operate within the approved annual budget each year
Work with accounting firm on monthly reconciliation and annual audit; oversee all aspects of financial management, maintaining specific requirements of non?profit regulations and standards
Report to the Treasurer monthly the current financial status
Public Relations & Communication
Manage SCPhA communication strategies, including website, newsletters/print, personal appearances and public statements to assure appropriate substantive, conceptual and political approach
Stimulate participation among members and partners to engage in the work of SCPhA
Maintain a productive working relationship with the Board and among the staff through appropriate dialogue and communication
Develop and nurture positive relationships with other state and national pharmacy organizations
Develop and nurture positive relationships with state peer health care related organizations
Engage and foster collaboration with state schools of pharmacy
Maintain relationships with federal and state legislators, government agencies & committees, affiliated organizations and partners of SCPhA and its entities
KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Professional
Proficiency in administration, strategic planning, fiscal management, and experience in working with organizations the size of SCPhA with a large volunteer base and small staff
Broad based connections and experiences with business, industry, government, and academia in the development and delivery of programs and services.
Proven ability to raise funds from diverse sources to support professional programs and services
Demonstrated versatility and creativity in adapting an organizational vision to changing realities and galvanizing people to act
Demonstrated ability to respect, support, encourage and promote the diversity of ideas, values, assumptions, aspirations, approaches and ideologies inherent in the profession of pharmacy
An understanding of John Carver’s model on Policy Governance an asset.

Ability to articulate SCPhA vision, values and direction to internal and external stakeholders.
A keen ability to listen and encourage people to voice multiple perspectives in order to find win-win solutions that are in the best interest of SCPhA and the pharmacy profession

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Minimum of ten years of relevant job experience, including five years in a senior management position, preferably in a health care?oriented organization
Maintain visible presence at the SCPhA office in Columbia, SC, for a majority of each work week including flexibility to work evening and weekends as required
Ability to travel throughout the state and nationally to represent SCPhA and meet with members ? Strong administrative, organizational and fiscal skills
Proficient knowledge of current technology & operation systems (i.e. Microsoft Office products, virtual meeting platforms, AV equipment, etc.)
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and an understanding of association management (CAE is not required but an asset)

We are a 501 (C) (6) not-for-profit professional organization representing the professional interests of pharmacists, pharmacy students and pharmacy technicians with some Associate memberships for interested parties. We have a 501 (C) (3) Foundation that provides student scholarships. We also have a wholly-owned for-profit subsidiary. We own our headquarters building in the outskirts of Columbia, SC and have tenants in separate spaces.
