Health, Project Management/Program Development, Research and Information
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, seeks a Senior Research Associate to provide key scientific and systems direction in the operations of and lead assigned studies in Primary Care Research.
Some tasks include: 1. Provide key scientific and systems direction in the development and execution of research projects by the Pediatric Research in Office Settings (PROS) network. 2. Provide key scientific and systems oversight and support for the development of proposals for future funding, continuation applications, and progress reports. 3. Develop, oversee, and maintain data and process management systems and direct PROS projects as assigned to ensure scientific and financial integrity and progress of these efforts. 4. Develop and maintain internal networking activities to connect PROS work with other parts of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), to build and maximize dissemination and implementation and impact of research results. 5. Establish and maintain effective communications with Fellows and other PROS investigators on PROS project work. 6. Oversee activities to ensure ongoing compliance of assigned studies with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements. 7. Develop, oversee and maintain systems to track status of contracts, budgets, and expenses for assigned projects and ensure compliance with funder and federal requirements. 8. Provide expertise on Human Subjects protection issues to practitioners and investigators as needed. 9. Develop, execute, and present results of statistical analyses for selected projects. 10. Write research articles and scientific abstracts for peer-reviewed journals and professional research meetings. 11. Develop agendas and materials for PROS research meetings and attend/present at these meetings. 12. Represent the network and/or team at professional research conferences and committee meetings as required. 13. Train and supervise selected PROS staff.
Qualifications Needed: 1. Masters in health services research, public health, behavioral science, or related field required. Doctorate preferred. 2. Five years’ experience in health services research required, including research project management, all aspects of research planning and data analysis, and some peer-reviewed publications. Supervisory experience preferred. 3. Demonstrated mastery in all phases of research required. Proficiency with MS Office, SAS, SPSS, database applications (eg, Access), and spreadsheet applications (eg, Excel) required.
