Meetings/Expositions/Events, Project Management/Program Development
With the VP of Programs & Peer Engagement, the Director will create the strategy and establish priorities for the Council’s programs and events. For each event, the Director will assess the needs and market, prioritize audiences and lead in the development of content. He/she will engage with and learn from members and other key stakeholders who provide valuable thought leadership in the development and implementation of programs and events.
• Oversee and manage the conference budget. • Manage key components of programming including the Leading Together conference, Career Pathways leadership development program, and other large convenings. • Provide leadership and support to conference working groups. • Manage the call for presentations and review process for selection of sessions and speakers. • Manage the process for supporting breakout sessions and speakers. • Develop collaborative partnerships with Programs & Peer Engagement colleagues and other content leads in the conference planning process. • Identify and assist in the development of innovative learning ideas and contribute to the integration of innovative program delivery methods. • Lead internal staff teams involved in executing specific programs and events. • Apply instructional design theory and best practices in adult learning to convenings. • Create speaker and attendee assessment mechanisms, gather and analyze feedback and implement upgrades to future programs based on feedback. • Maintain Council approved provider status with various accreditation entities. • Develop, implement, and manage operational timelines for Leading Together, Career Pathways and other professional summits. • Serve as a key decisionmaker in supporting event logistics for the Leading Together Conference, including site visits, production of plenary sessions, breakouts, special events and on-site management. • Provide managerial oversight, guidance and direction to the Manager, Events.
• At least 5-7 years of progressive experience in adult education, training or professional development. • Experience in an association environment, nonprofit or philanthropic institutions preferred. • Experience working with and coordinating multiple volunteers, subject matter experts and other key stakeholders. • Strong customer service background leading to collaborative internal and external partnerships.
