The Society has an opening for a Senior IT Manager to become a member of a dynamic professional team comprising leaders in non-profit management that support and connect orthopaedic surgeons and other professionals through education and research to prevent and resolve sports injuries among active people of all ages and levels. This position calls for an independent, proactive, problem- solving, diplomatic, multi-tasking professional focusing on:
Strategic & Operational Planning – 70%

Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic and Operational Planning
Set overall IT strategy for AOSSM.
Lead operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
Ensure necessary support of AOSSM’s iMIS (association management system) ecosystem including the operational effectiveness of integrated application software (i.e. RiSE, Informz, Oasis LMS) to enhance the members’ digital experience.
Work with professional team (staff) to determine effective technology solutions for meeting both strategic and operational needs; meets with individual departments to discuss needs and solutions before projects are approved, ensuring that selected solutions integrate with other AOSSM systems as necessary and meet best practices for IT standards.
Responsible for the strategic direction and management of all infrastructure systems, including disaster recovery, information security, cloud services, telecommunications, data storage, to support the day-to-day business operations.
Stay apprised of current knowledge, information, trends, and best practices with current and future technologies.
Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the technologies that AOSSM use.
Develop and maintains a Disaster Recovery Plan. Ensure that backup, recovery, and security procedures are set-up and performed as planned and necessary.
Manage financial aspects of the IT department, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review.
Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Communications on web technology issues. Assist in the redesign of AOSSM’s website as needed to provide ease of access, clear navigational and responsive design (to accommodate varying types of devices and web browsers), a seamless user experience and an overall appealing look and feel.
Extended-team Management (Vendors)
Manage consultants, vendors, and service providers.
Negotiate and administer vendor, outsource and consultant contracts and service agreements.
Work with AOSSM’s managed service provider to maintain asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment.
Administrative Direction and Hands-On Support
Serve as a leader on the IT Advisory Team to advise staff on technology-related initiatives.
Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization regarding pertinent IT activities, including training as needed.
Facilitate training for staff on technology solutions.
Special projects as assigned by the CEO.

Experience with database management. Experience with iMIS a plus but not required.

Education and Experience:
Four-year degree (university) in a relevant field.
At least 5-7 years of IT-related work experience in a challenging and creative environment, preferably an association.
At least 2-3 years of managing complex vendor relationships.
Strong understanding of project management principles.
In-depth knowledge of applying technology in development environments preferably focused on membership.
Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required.
Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
Ability to perform general calculations for the purpose of creating business cases and budgets.
Proven ability to identify training needs and develop in-person and web-based training resources.
Proven analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities.
Exceptional customer service orientation.
Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people.
