The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. We are currently seeking a Chief Operating Officer for the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) located in our downtown Chicago office.
Provides senior leadership for AONE and its respective operating units (operations, membership, marketing, internal and external communications, media relations, publications, education, special projects, and quality). Leads, manages, and oversees all related business activities to achieve the overall strategic and financial goals of AONE.
Develops strategic and operational priorities in collaboration with the AONE board of directors and chief executive officer that support the organizational strategic plan. Leads the development of the AONE strategic plan, annual operating plan, and manages and oversees associated metrics.
Develops and manages the annual operating budget, overseeing revenue in excess of $9 million and reserves in excess of $15.0 million. Accountable for overall AONE performance relative to financial and business development goals.
Leads, inspires, develops, and motivates the AONE staff in all areas of business activity, growth, and development. Responsible for FTE management and oversight of team compensation.
Represents AONE (a) outside AONE for the purpose of advancing the strategic, business goals of the AHA and AONE, including key external partnerships; and (b) within the AHA as a member of the Core Management senior leadership team. Serves as an active participant and leader on cross-association initiatives, aimed at achieving the strategic priorities of AHA.
Serves on numerous cross-association workgroups aimed at improving organizational effectiveness and impactful in the health care and nursing leadership fields.

Masters degree in Business Administration and/or related fields.
Minimum 12 years of experience leading multi-layered operations and teams of individuals from diverse experiences. Executive-level leadership of an association, non-profit organization, or corporation whose information, products, and services meet the needs of defined constituents.
Deep knowledge of issues impacting health care associations.
Mastery of current association business strategies and best practices, with in-depth understanding of operations, fiscal management, strategic planning, and communications strategy. Solid understanding of issues impacting health care and nursing leadership
