The American Urological Association, the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care, is actively recruiting an experienced Payment Policy Manager.
Primary duties include:
Analyzes and drafts policy communications: in response to rulemaking such as the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, the Hospital Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgical Centers. Develops comments in areas of reimbursement, quality and practice management and analyzes impact on the practice of urology.
Advocates: for key positions before the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Food and Drug Administration and other federal agencies. Coordinates official AUA comments on AUA publications, e-newsletters, social media and fact sheets on reimbursement.
Interacts: with the major national insurance companies advocating fair reimbursement, negotiating coverage decisions and providing evidence base expert advice.
Supervises: the Insurance Analyst; works with the analyst to communicate with members.

The successful candidate:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in public policy related area.
Minimum 5 years’ management experience with proven leadership, and strong strategic planning skills.
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of physician payment and health care related agencies.
A dynamic leader with strong external relations and excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to serve as a persuasive and powerful spokesperson.
Proven coalition builder with the ability to quickly earn the respect of multiple constituencies, both internally and externally.
Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology, ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System helpful.
Knowledge of RUC and CPT processes preferred.
