The National Association of Homes Builders (NAHB) is seeking a Director, External Communications who will be responsible for spearheading the association’s efforts to educate consumers on the value of homeownership, promote interest in buying new homes and remodeling, and increase awareness of threats to home building and homeownership. The Director will develop strategies to connect consumers with members and demonstrate the value of NAHB membership and will provide consumer resources and PR counsel to state and local affiliated associations.
Qualified candidates will have exceptional written and oral communication skills along with the ability to process information quickly and accurately with a keen sense of its impact on the organization and its goals. Candidates must be able to exercise creativity and perform under deadlines. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in consensus building. Effective leadership skills in negotiation, facilitation, and persuasion are also a must.
A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in association public relations, communications, social media, and online content management is required. Experience in the housing industry is preferred. Familiarity with graphic design concepts and the ability to translate ideas into products are also highly desirable.
A Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, or communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are required.
