AMWA’s mission is to promote excellence in medical communication and to provide educational resources in support of that goal. AMWA’s Education Director is responsible for the creation and delivery of educational programs and resources. The director works collaboratively with subject matter experts, volunteer leaders, and staff to develop content and deliver high-quality programs and resources using best practices in adult learning principles and curriculum development strategy. The director oversees development, implementation, and improvement of all AMWA educational programs including workshops, conference sessions, webinars, onsite corporate training, and online learning activities. This is a role that requires a collaborative approach in working with staff and committees to produce and implement an education content strategy and plan to expand educational programs and resources.
Work with committees and staff to identify and manage subject matter experts to facilitate content creation and new educational program and resource development.
Work with committee and staff to manage the selection, presentation, and evaluation of content for conference sessions, workshops, webinars, online learning, and on-site corporate training.
Manage the review and approval process of content for educational programs and resources.
Perform quality control activities to ensure the quality of learning activities.
Engage in project management functions for review and update of existing course content and amend and revision of educational materials as necessary.
Partner with marketing team to support the development and implementation of content marketing activities to increase participation in education programs
Oversee the evaluation process and ensure that feedback is shared with faculty and used for program improvement and resource effectiveness.
Perform needs/gaps analyses using available data and evaluate program results to continuously improve education program.
Manage staff, subject matter experts, volunteers, vendors in support of educational program goals.
Ensure AMWA education programs support ongoing member skill and career development, promote the knowledge of professional standards, and keep members abreast of trends and important topics in the field.
Serve as staff liaison to committees to guide strategic discussions on curriculum development, subject matter expert and peer review processes, and educational policy development.

Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an adult education or association setting with management experience to include curriculum development and instructional design, working with content experts and external vendors, concept/program development and market research.
Knowledge of instructional design and/or adult learning principles.
Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time and ensure deadlines are met.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment as well as with individuals from a geographically dispersed membership.
Excellent written and oral communications skills; comfort with document control and copyediting including the ability to write session descriptions, learning objectives, and speaker correspondence.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills to initiate and develop productive working partnerships with key stakeholders organization-wide.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Experience working with learning management systems and online course development software preferred.
Knowledge of topics within the medical/healthcare/pharma/biotech industry is a plus.
Experience with AMS, event registration software programs, and website content management, systems is a plus.
