You will perform program and marketing management, and administrative oversight for Career and Equity Advancement programs on the membership team. Responsible for day-to-day management and program development of ICMA Veterans Programs, the ICMA Scholarship Program, and the ICMA Coaching Program.
What you’ll do:
Works with the Director on the Veterans Local Government Fellowship, including the recruitment of applicants, the placement process, and the recruitment of hosts; currently placing three cohorts of veteran Fellows per year.
Works with the Director to grow the program to nationwide placement with a focus on six Army installations.
Works with the Director and the VLGMF founder to create and support a new advisory board for program oversight.
Maintains/develops program website and marketing materials in coordination with ICMA Outreach.
Provides Director support for the IMCOM garrison commander initiative
Staffs additional efforts to attract former military to and support them in the profession through innovative programs, marketing, or networking efforts.
Works with the director to expand the program from the U.S. Army to all branches of service.
ICMA Scholarship Program:
Manages the ICMA Scholarship Program, including marketing, awarding, and processing payments for all current and upcoming scholarships (conference, veterans, student, equity); and works with other Careers and ICMA team members as necessary to promote ICMA scholarships.
ICMA Coaching Program:
Provides primary project management support for the ICMA Coaching program, including all member and non-member communications/inquiries.
Manages development of ICMA Coaching Program newsletter, including content development, scheduling, calendar integration, and all aspects of production.
Manages communications and outreach with state and outreach partners.
Manages the recruitment of volunteer coaches and oversees the CoachConnect platform.
Maintains project metrics for reporting on coaching and coaches/participants.
Maintains program website and marketing materials.
Works with program partners and contractors to maintain high program ratings and perception.
General Program Management and Support:
Assists with programming of other career support efforts as needed, including K-12/undergraduate programming, and others not yet developed.
Works with outreach team to engage relevant projects through social media on Facebook, LinkedIn, ICMA twitter feed, and blogs.
Ensures program performance results and effectively communicating to ICMA management and leadership.
Reviews deliverables and products to ensure quality and timely submission.
May represent ICMA at workshops and conferences.
Performs other related duties as required.
What you need to be successful in this role:
Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5-7 years’ work experience required; program management experience ideal. Willingness to supervise support staff and interns.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated project management, budgeting, fiscal management, and administrative skills, with knowledge of Excel.
Working knowledge of local government structures and operations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, career directors, and academics.
Ability to write effective, persuasive marketing copy for online, e-mail, and print formats tailored to each audience’s needs and interests.
Must develop extensive understanding of ICMA, its membership, activities, and services.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to deal with members, nonmembers, external contacts, and other staff diplomatically and effectively.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
Proficiency in e-mail, Internet, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Working knowledge of NetForum or similar membership database software preferred.
